Suffering from nail fungus? Mode of treatment? The nails are nothing but the dead cuticles of the skin and most of the time it has been found that topical ointments are not strong enough to penetrate into the thickened toenails or nails thus unable to cure the fungus that forms under them. Many ointments have been experimented with and the most commonly recommended nail fungus ointments is ZetaClear.
What do you mean by Nail Fungus? Onychomycosis or nail fungus is a sort of nail disorder which you may not be aware of at the onset as you will get to know about it only when the condition worsens. The early signs of this disorder are when you notice discoloration of the nail tip i.e. the color of the nail tip may turn yellow or sometimes even black as the infection spreads to the whole nail if left untreated. This disorder usually occurs in the toenails as the toe nail is constantly exposed to the changing environment but then there have been cases where even the fingernails have been affected. The reason for the fingernails being affected is that the person is constantly working in a wet or humid environment.
Reasons behind this nail disorder: Dermatophytes are tiny organisms which cause this disorder and it
affects people who are constantly working in wet conditions which
include places like the swimming pools, shower rooms etc. These tiny
organisms get embedded in the space between the nail base and the
nail. Due to the attack of these organisms the protective protein
layer called keratin is destroyed the result is there is no nail
protection and the fungus spreads on all the surrounding areas not
only affecting that particular nail but other nails too gradually.
The continuous wearing of socks may give you a warm feeling but then
this could lead to infection as the dermatophytes are known to breed
in warm and humid climate.
What are the symptoms of the nail disorder? The visible specks or spots of white or yellow under the tip of the fingernail or the toenail which gradually increases when not treated on time thus deepening the infection. Result being the discoloration of the entire nail, thickening of the nail and marked uneven edges of the nail.
